Now is the best time to Immigrate to Canada!

In 2021, Canada broke all records when it welcomed over 405,000 new immigrants to the country. And for the next three years, between 2022 and 2024, Canada has set a target to welcome a further 1.3 million immigrants. This is what makes it the best time for you and other potential immigrants to pursue your applications now!

Canada’s Immigration Programs

There are over 80 immigration programs and pathways to apply for in Canada. These programs can be sorted into four categories; economic, family sponsorship, refugee, and humanitarian.

On this page, we will be focusing on the programs under the Economic Class.

Express Entry

Express Entry is the country’s system to help manage all the applications that they receive from foreign applicants.

Express Entry is a points-based system that ranks applicants as per their qualifications. This is determined by an assortment of human capital, education, and work factors such as age, educational attainment, work experience, and language proficiency, each of which has points equivalent. The total number of points will be your Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS). The higher your CRS, the more likely you are to get selected and invited to apply.

Under Express Entry are the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program, Federal Skilled Trades (FST) program, Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and select Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP).

1. Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program

The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program is intended for foreign skilled workers who would like to immigrate to Canada.

The minimum requirements to apply under the FSW program are:

Skilled work experience
Language proficiency
Education
2. Federal Skilled Trades (FST) Program

The Federal Skilled Trades (FST) Program is intended for skilled trade workers who would like to immigrate to Canada.

The minimum requirements to apply under the FST program are:

Qualified skilled trades qualification and experience
Language
proficiency
Job Offer or a Canadian Certificate of Qualification.
3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is designed for foreign applicants who have Canadian work experience, are most likely in Canada, and would like to apply for Permanent Residence.

The minimum requirements to apply under CEC are:

At least 1-year of skilled work experience in Canada
Language proficiency
4. Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP)

Each Canadian province and territory may operate a nomination stream as per their unique economic needs. Some programs go through Express Entry, while other programs go directly to the province or territory.

Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP) are designed for skilled workers who would like to live in the province they are applying for and would like to become a Canadian Permanent Resident.

Each province has its own “streams” that target specific groups of people. Some groups may include International Students, Temporary Residence Holders, etc.
